Using Inbound Hints

Using Inbound Hints on your Vestalink numbers allows you to add text to inbound Caller IDs. This makes it easier to discern who is calling you through which number you have associated with your account. To set set up an Inbound Hint on your number access your web portal and click on Manage Numbers tab under the Numbers menu.


This will bring up the Number Management page where all your numbers are listed on lines like this:


Click on Edit on the right side. This will allow you to type on the Caller ID, Fax Email, and Inbound Hint fields.
Under the Inbound Hint field, type what you would like to be added to your Caller ID that will help you identify what phone number calls are coming through.
 
Once satisfied with the Inbound Hint, click Save on the right.
Any inbound calls that go through the number you just edited will now include the new Inbound Hint at the beginning of the Caller ID. In our example the Caller ID would show up as Work: (555)555-5555.
